area you can run these basic checks on your telephone line. Listen to your phone to hear if
you have a dial tone. If you don’t you should check if
your telephone is plugged in to the power socket, and your phone line
hasn’t been accidentally pulled out. Check to see if your telephone line
is not damaged and the volume on your phone hasn’t been
turned down. If you have a cordless phone check
that both ends of the telephone line and the power adaptor
are plugged in securely. If your phone is still not working, try plugging a different working
phone into the master socket. Your master socket usually
has a horizontal line running across it and may have
a BT or openreach logo on it. If your hear a dial tone using
another phone the problem is likely to be with your handset. To check whether the fault is with
your cables or with your phone unplug all the equipment from
your telephone line. These can include computers,
broadband routers, microfilters,
and extension leads with adaptors. Now plug a working phone directly
into your master telephone socket with nothing else attached. If you can make calls the problem is
likely to be in one of your pieces of equipment. To determine which one plug each
piece of equipment back in, one by one, checking the phone line to see if
a fault occurs. If there is still a problem this
final step of connecting to the test socket could solve this. Your test socket is located in
your master socket and is used for testing your home’s
internal wiring for faults. Before connecting to it, unplug all pieces of equipment
from the telephone line, including computers,
microfilters, and routers. Now, carefully unscrew the two small
screws and slide out the face plate. By removing the faceplate you have
disconnected from the internal wiring circuit. Now plug your telephone line
directly into the master test socket. If your phone is still not working,
then the problem is likely to be in
your local area. Please visit the link below to get
