Jaden Smith Surprises Ellen with Gift to Help Flint Water Crisis

Wow. You’re so super cool and
fashionable and stuff. Thank you. I really appreciate that. I appreciate you. It’s been so long. I don’t know how old you
were when I first met you, but the last time you were
here, you were 14 years old. And now you’re 20. Wow. It’s amazing. That’s insane. Don’t you miss me? I do miss you so much. I’m so glad to be back. I’m so glad to be back. I was just saying to you like
one of my fondest memories being young and doing
interviews all the time was just coming here. I just felt like
I wasn’t working. I felt so welcome. And I just want
to say thank you, and I always want to
come back whenever. Aw thanks. Well. [APPLAUSE] Oh. Wow. There it is. That’s the last time. That is. That’s insane. That’s amazing. I know. So you just performed at
Coachella with your sister. How was that? That was your first time, right? That was my first
time at Coachella. It was the best experience
of my entire life. [APPLAUSE] It was so much fun. Does something like
that make you nervous? Yes, that makes me very nervous. Performing at Coachella, because
it’s like my ultimate dream to perform at Coachella. So I’ve been going for years. It’s been like five years
for me going to Coachella. I’ve seen my favorite
performances ever at Coachella. So for me to get that
opportunity perform there. It was a dream come true. Yeah. I couldn’t believe it. It was the most exhilarating
moment of my life. I was on a Tesla. I don’t know if you saw, but
I was like flying on a Tesla, and I just saw everything,
and I was scared, but it was the best thing. It was so much fun. OK. So speaking of exhilarating. So your dad was
just here recently, and he said he made everybody
go jump out of a plane. Yeah I didn’t get that. I didn’t get that. He made everybody
jump out of a plane. And I was down for it, but my
mom she didn’t want to do it. But I was trying to
make her enjoy it more, because she was nervous. She didn’t. No. No. She didn’t, no. I wanted her to, but I jumped
out of the plane three times, but I think now she’s
happy that she did it. She wouldn’t do it again, but
she’s happy that she did it. Well, yeah, she’s probably
glad that it’s over. [LAUGHTER] But you like it. You’d do it again. Yes, I would do it
again a million times if my dad asked me to jump
out of the plane with him. I’m there to jump
out of a plane. You just don’t want
to bungee jump? I don’t want to bungee
jump out of a helicopter. That’s what I don’t want to do. Over the Grand Canyon. I can’t do that. I don’t. That’s not for me. Are you scared of mice? I’m not scared of mice. See. I’m not scared of mice. I’m not– I’m– I’m– No? I’m not not scared
of mice, though. No. I’m not– I’m not overly
scared of mice as he is. Good. Good for you. But it’s like, I wouldn’t
like to see a bunch of mice right now, Ellen. I will be honest with you. I’m not going to show you. If I saw a mouse right
now, I would be scared. I’m going to be honest with you. OK, so. It’s not like him. OK. But it’s like it’s
like an average person. It’s OK to be scared of mice. No, it’s not. It’s not? They’re just little
innocent creatures. I don’t know why. Anyway. Let’s talk about all
the good you’re doing. You’ve always done an
amazing amount of work for the planet and
just for communities. And you’re trying to
help Flint, Michigan. You’re doing something amazing. Tell everybody
what you’re doing. So I actually just put a
water filtration system into Flint, Michigan that
does about 10 gallons of water [INAUDIBLE]. [APPLAUSE] So we’ve kind of been tracking
the progress of what’s been happening in Flint
since the beginning, and we’ve been sending
tons of water to Flint since the beginning. But in the form of
bottles of water. When people are showering, when
they’re doing different things with the water, and
they’re cooking with it, bottles of water aren’t the most
efficient thing all the time. So we created this
water filtration system where you come and you can
fill up bigger gallons, like bigger containers of water. So you don’t have to
just take the 500 million liters, all these cases. So people can come off like
five gallon drums, or even a 10-gallon drum. You can come and fill up. You’ll just fill up for free
in 60 seconds at First Trinity Baptist Church. That’s amazing. Yeah, we put that [INAUDIBLE]. That’s amazing. [APPLAUSE] And actually, speaking
about what we did in Flint, I actually got you a present
that I would actually love to show you. OK. I actually got you a water
filtration system in your name that I’m actually going to
donate and put into Flint. [APPLAUSE] Wow. Yeah. I put the Ellen logo on it. The whole thing. Let’s go stand next to it. That’s amazing, Jaden. You’re so sweet. That’s amazing. Of course. How many have you done of these? We’ve only done one, so
this is the second one. Oh man That we’ve ever done. So we did the first one. This going to be the second one. We have our Ellen logo on here. And, yeah. We’re putting this
actual box is going to be in Flint, providing
clean water for people on pretty much a weekly basis. That’s incredible. Thank you so much, Jaden.

  1. Hey Jadon and Ellen, send that water filtrator to African countries. I would love to see them in the remote villages of Ethiopia for instance.

  2. The state has been given the money to fix this problem like 3 times. The corrupt state democratic politicians keep pocketing the money instead.

  3. Im confused because it only takes 7-8 million dollars to completely fix the issue in flint. Most celebrities including jaden could literally single handily solve these situations if they truly cared. So its hard for me to praise someone who is legit doing the bare minimum
