AN EFFICIENT MOLEST TO CATCH CAR THIEVES OR PULL OVER VEHICLES THAT SHOW UP IN A CRIMINAL DATABASE. >>WITH TECHNOLOGY AND GOOD, SMART POLICING, IT ALLOWS US TO KEEP OUR PUBLIC SAFETY. >>WHEN A LOCAL ACTIVIST TO PETITION THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, HE SAYS HE WAS STUNNED BY WHAT HE SAW. >>DID YOU THINK IT WAS A CASE OF BIG BROTHER’S GONE TOO FAR?>>YES, I DO THINK THAT. I HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH, NOT SUSPECTED OF COMMITTING ANY CRIME.>>Reporter: HE FOUND WHAT HE SAYS IS AN EGREGIOUS VIOLATION OF PRIVACY, WHERE POLICE JUST HAPPEN TO GET IMAGES OF HIS CAR AND MORE. >>SO THIS PICTURE SHOWS MY CAR PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOUSE, VERY CLEARLY SHOWS MY DAUGHTERS AND MYSELF GETTING OUT OF. >>Reporter: THE SCANNER IS ALWAYS ON. MORE THAN A THIRD ARE USING AUTOMATED PLATE READERS, ACCORDING TO A STUDY BY GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY. THREE CAMERAS ON THE CAR. THEY CAPTURE PLATES INSTANTANEOUSLY, CROSS-CHECKED FOR VEHICLES, SO IF A CAR COMES ACROSS AS BEING STOLEN, THE OFFICER WILL BE INSTANTLY ALERTED. IT’S NOT THAT DATA COLLECTION IS BAD, CRITICS SAY, BUT THAT DEPARTMENTS KEEP THE INFORMATION ON FILE, SOMETIMES FOR MONTHS ACTION SOMETIMES FOR YEARS. EVERY DEPARTMENT HAS ITS OWN POLICY. SAN LEE ANDO KEEPS IT FOR A YEAR IRS ONCE THEY HAVE THE LOCATION OF YOUR PLATE AND WHERE YOU WERE ON THAT DATE AND TIME, THAT THEY SCANNED YOUR PLATE, THEY CAN SEE WHERE YOU WORK, WHO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH, WHERE YOU PRAY, WHERE YOU’RE GOING TO THE DOCTOR, AND THEY CAN LEARN QUITE A LOT ABOUT YOU. >>IN ORDER TO HAVE A DISCUSSION ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS, PEOPLE HAVE TO KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING.>>Reporter: POLICE TELL US THE TECHNOLOGY IS ONLY BEEN OFFICIAL AGAINST CRIME SUSPECTS, BUT SOME SAY THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE TRANSPARENCY AND LIMITS TO WHAT INFORMATION CAN BE GATHERED AND STORED ON CITIZENS

  1. Yep stalking, they r over the line.
Probly stalking us by gps on our phones and cars too. Wonder if thy can monitor us thru our t.v.

  2. Any information gathered in general fashion, that does not directly relate to an investigation, should be purged after a reasonable time period. A court enforced with teeth law to protect the privacy of citizens.

  3. The town where my shop is recently spent tens of thousands of dollars on this garbage for at least two of their cars and I've seen those cop cars driving up and down the wal mart parking lot, the grocery stores, home depot lots and every other large parking lot in town. Up and down, back and forth again and again and I'm supposed to think that's for my safety, right? It's for nothing more than revenue generation. Just like red light cameras where they adjust the yellows to screw you. Fortunately, my entire county voted to get rid of the red light cameras so they are gone but again, the town where my shop is had those cameras on every single light. Not one here or one there but every single light. Safety my ass, it's all about stripping you of your money. No more, no less. Oh and in this town they have signs where you get on the highway that read "travel safe zone, fines doubled" which is pure bull shit as well. The city just built five new fire houses. That's five and word on the street is they were about 3 million a piece but hey, they have playgrounds, outdoor bbq areas, gyms and every other amenity you can imagine and they are stuffed full of million dollar brand new fire trucks. Drive by them any time of day and there's a million dollars worth of personal vehicles parked around the buildings from new corvettes to the 75,000 pickup trucks and everything in between.

  4. Sorry but this point is being missed and in a big way. The report is making an argument that the data is being collected and that it shouldnt be done by these agencies. The agency then responds by making a comforting response that we only keep this info on file for a year? Ok to anyone who believes that bullshit just shoot yourself now because your worthless flesh is taking up space we need. #1 notice they say we only keep it on file for 1 year. That very well could be. What you dont hear them say is then it is transferred to the Federal Gov. they store it in a underground data base in Utah that is so big they are using a river to cool the processors because it takes in millions and millions of data bits on each one of us every single hour. The point was missed because its out there now. These Gov. agencies do not go backwards. They do not surrender anything. Once they have something and it is activated thats it we lose. They will just argue that they are not miss using this type of surveillance eqpt. At the most laws will be put in place to monitor how they hold this info and who they gather it on . The only problem with that is one of their own will be put in place to see to it that the info will be dumped or what ever. And that is the biggest lie there is. The check is in the mail, and we will police our people. BULLSHIT. They wont and will lie right to our faces and say they will. There will come a time when they say ok turn in your guns. When you buck and say no they will come around and knock on the door to your house. They have come to pick them up. When you say I did turn mine in, or no i dont have them anymore they were stolen. They will dig deep and see that you lied. So they are coming back. Now then you could have people in place to warn you they are coming back. They are just down the block right.? So you and your family jump in the car and take off right? maybe or maybe not. Maybe they sent a signal down line through that handy device so many like ONSTAR? yeah member that? Yeah through an online direct signal. They hit yes and the ecu in the car is smoked and will never run that car again. You say wait I know where there is another just like that one. Nope if it isnt flashed to the other ride it doesnt work either. Ok so lets say you have that covered and haul ass away from the un troups going door to door. It wont matter you know why? Because of these tag readers and their computers ability based on human nature will use all that data gathered to form a good and accurate guess as to where you went. That is how.Wake up people !!!

  5. Take pictures of that police officers children to see how he likes this bullshit, and say it's for my safety
People hate cops already, let's top that cake

  6. They are NOT plate reads they are a VIDEO camera that is take pictures or VIDEO of what ever the hell the POLICE wish to take from we the people So we nolonger have privacy laws. That's a wet dream and will not get better until we change.
    Why we give power to
The OFFICERS that are not trust worthy

  7. Privacy is a figment of your imagination. Cameras on cop cars. Big deal, the officer is right there and can see your plate without a camera. If you are driving in public I can see your car and its plate. There is nothing secret or private about that. License plates are issued so that we know what person belongs to what car. You want to drive on public streets, the public has a right to know who you are. If you want privacy, stay in your house and close the door. And disconnect your computer and cell phone. Short of that privacy does not exist.

Yes, the constitution gives you the right of privacy, but once you step out into the public, all bets are off. You have chosen to be public, and that is that.

  8. Taking pictures that can uniquely identify a person at any health care facility is a direct violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. So if they are storing images of you parking at and leaving your vehicle at lets say an Oncology clinic then they are probably in violation for every health care facility they pass.

  9. It's like the government tracking ur cell phone or the RFID chips on your cc cards there was supposed to be a ban on that being it invasion of privacy same things goes for cars trucks SUVs its amazing that certain states are not abiding by federal laws and make up there own so they cam make money like civil forfeiture it's all b.s. why is nobody speaking out against cops thru out this country doesn't matter if there are good cops sheriff's highway patrol doesn't matter what agencies they are from they all abuse the privileges of the badge and judges do they same thing alongside district attorneys thruout the USA many laws have changed for the good or for the worse some states make up there own laws by making money off the poor and there's nothing nobody can do about it like all law officials have itchy trigger fingers and most if not all have extensive military background that makes thing worse only when people test the patient's of the law officials and they always have they're hands on there guns no matter the situation and they wonder why nobody likes cops no matter who they are with that why other countries dont like the US some call it a prison country and they are right the US alone we spend billions just in about what the us debt owes in building or taking care of employees who work at those facilities and putting more and more behind bars for petty crimes I can understand the stupid people that commit murders rapes or even robbery but with traffic stops or simply doing nothing and telling those said subject its the laws and those cops that have killed by accident some or all say its justified this country has a law official problem and just keeps getting worse until someone does something about it

  10. Invasion of privacy whatever !! We need more big brother and prosecutions on the multitude of morons doing retarded things on the road, if people think they themselves have a right to break road rules and being dicks while the rest of us have to obey the rules the road rule breaking scum will get what they deserve

  11. "With technology and smart, good policing, it allows us to keep out public spied on… Uh, safe." We have have finally lost the war for privacy, folks.

  12. And a direct violation of our 4 th amendment rights. If they have no reason to run my plates then why are you running them? Probable cause just went out the window.

  13. Wonder how they can afford that technology when they can’t even finish a bullet train house the homeless clean up the shit. Must be bootlegging water

  14. Police are just a neccesary evil anyway … This information will be abused thousands of times by thugs with badges …

  15. I agree with this…its promote safety..🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏅🏅🏅🏅👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

  16. This is the kind of garbage that gay ass cnn reports on, police doing their jobs and using technology to see who is driving stolen vehicles. This is just another sign of the anarchy to come brought to you by the sheeple that watch cnn and msnbc . Grow up assholes.

  17. Of course dumb asses cops are the goverment puppets watching you and the goverment controls what you eat, wear , hear, watch and there ain't shit we the "people"the"tax payers" feeding them to control us . REEL SHIT PEOPLE WE BLIND

  19. Look at all the comments on here of people living under a fuck'n rock. This tech as been our for about a decade and all these people make comments as if this video was just posted today. Yet, not one person on here has been effected by the technology. People are so fuck'n ignorant as a whole that's really sad.

  20. Stupid says, law enforcement should have public records stored. THEY DON'T. NCIC or your local state CIC has all your shit stored and it can only be utilized by police, not stored. What is stored is only a clip or pic of the plate……..so what? No private citizen can gain info on YOU by the plate of your vehicle. Calm down, you bunch of idiots.

  21. Then the dumb lady says something that isn't totally true. What if the car was driven by you , but by a friend? If you're not a criminal, cops aren't interested in your fucking daily habits or routines. YOU PEOPLE CAN'T BE THIS IGNORANT. Actually, yes you can.

  22. Let me ask. Have we seen a reduction of crime? Also if police know where the criminals are please go arrest them.

  23. just inventorying chattel property of the citizen sheeple for corporate embezzlement and racketeering by threat of aggressive force or imprisonment ,… nothing to see here,… move along,… move along,… (fucking mindless order followers ARE THE PROBLEM) WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. https://hooktube.com/watch?v=vb8Rj5xkDPk
replace the word "plantation" with the word "city" and we are now up to date. ( 2019)

  25. Wealthy White Conservative People in California are tracking the population of POOR people in order to control you, restrict your rights, and eventually institute a police state ….where they are able to maintain their wealth at the expense of the masses ….of unknowing Americans…

  26. Clearly the guy in this video just proved that these are not just license plate readers but actually takes full pictures of what it sees.

  27. This is effed up welp america you let it happen and you continue to let it happen a nation of strong individuals is now a nation of we will do as you say master

  29. if they are looking for bad guys it should scan for the plates ONLY. They should that plate number in their database and if they come around and scan it randomly it should alert them. Not scan everyone else that has done nothing wrong shouldn't brought into a pool of burglars or any database they did consent to. That's like FB saving your info for the beneficiary gains it's not right nor this police activity. Lately police have been using their work actions to benefit from it.

  30. fuck nooooo…what a bout if am whit a bitch…and you road down the street and cach me on camara..and save it for one year and i mery a cope…then am fuck no….

  31. Hell this is nothing new the Philadelphia parking authority has been using this same system for tears now that's how they know to boot your car

  32. This should be against the law , it’s BULL SHIT . But I agree if they are trying to catch someone doing something against the law whatever it maybe but just doing it just because it’s none of the cops business!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡

  33. They could just program it to only take pictures of stolen vehicles or something like that to stop the cams from taking photos of people and invading privacy.

  34. Bullshit..its invasion of privacy…how bout we do that to corrupt cops that traffic drugs just like some marines did and video and record them during theyre fun time with family. Its great for bad people getting caught..but not for a. Innocent person that youcan get all theyre private info out…NOTCOOL !

  35. This will eventually get used, when Forced Chipping starts!! And we CHRISTIANS REFUSE!!! the mark of the beast pre-info gathering.💂 New World order at hand, Licefier preping the masses 😈

  36. Against my fourth amendment right running a plate when a crime has not been committed and no traffic violation was made.

  37. Clearly a money grab that violates rights. This should never have been allowed nor should it ever have been tolerated by the general population. absolutely criminal, like Lysander Spooner said " Any number of men with money can make a government. With money they can hire soldiers to extort more money " . Police have become the hired goons of the crown corporations and the higher ups of those corporations. If we went back to the 1500s we would be calling them highway robbers not police.

  38. Funny that the guy doesn’t like police taking pictures of his car at house. Let me now go to a new outlet and show the rest of the city…

  39. Private companies track way more license plates to enable creditors to recover your car or other debters to find you.
The state owns your plates, they can do anything they want with the data. Whinny b1tches like this clown needs to shut his mouth!

  40. It's illegal to place a tracking device on a vehicle without warrant. It is illegal to chalk the tires for parking enforcement. It should also be illegal to hold records of a single vehicle longer than the moment the cop cruises by.
